The official charity of all Planet Ultra events is the Challenged Athletes Foundation. One of the goals of our events is to raise awareness of, and funds for, this organization.

The Challenged Athletes Foundation was created on the belief that people of all abilities should have the opportunity to pursue a life full of physical activity and of sports. Be they recreational or in pursuit of a gold medal at the Paralympic Games, people with a physical disability are limited only by their access to funding.

Co-Motion has a well-earned reputation for building tandems that simply handle better - which makes them safer and easier to control. When it comes to avoiding obstacles, or executing a perfect mountain descent, no tandem will respond like a Co-Motion. Experienced cyclists will notice that they don’t have to re-learn bike handling, while new cyclists find that riding a Co-Motion tandem is easier than they ever imagined. We have one - and we LOVE IT!

Halo Headbands perform better than any other headband on the market. Take advantage of this great deal. These headbands usually retail for $12.95. Click here to order yours for just $10.00.
Keep sweat and sunscreen out of your eyes and off your glasses while racing, training, or working out. All products feature a water-tight seal which keeps sweat out of your eyes. Non-slip surface keeps band in place. High performance material quickly evaporates moisture so you stay dry and comfortable. Lightweight, durable and abrasion resistant which will not lose shape. Works great under helmets. Hand or machine washable.

Let’s face it, we all should wear ID for the same reasons we ‘buckle-up’ when driving, purchase insurance for our homes, and wear helmets when cycling - to protect ourselves in the event of an unforeseen and unavoidable accident. We tell our spouse and children to be careful when they venture outdoors, yet (until now) little thought is given about their identity in the event of an accident.

Now the fellow athletes at RoadID.com have made it easy and practical to wear our ID no matter what sport we're doing! So click their logo and join us in being smart about our cycling and our safety!

One of Planet Ultra's Favorite Books!

RIDE A CENTURY WHEN YOU TURN A CENTURY. That's the promise offered by "Bike for Life: How to Ride to 100," a blueprint for using cycling to achieve an extremely active and healthy longevity. Bike for Life's message is that cycling is the world's best sport for longevity (after all, lap swimming is incredibly dull, and how many 70-year-old runners do you see?), but it is far from perfect. To  truly turn your bike into an anti-aging time machine, you have to do more than ride — otherwise there is a strong risk of osteoporosis, back pain, poor posture, declining strength and reflexes, even impotence and  poor relationships — all of which can conspire to keep you off the bike. To enjoy the good aspects of cycling and avoid the bad as your age odometer heads for triple digits, Bike for Life teaches that you must supplement your riding with weights, yoga and  core/cross-training activities, all explained in detail in the book. It's loaded with eye-opening studies, and written in a fun, readable style heavy on profiles of real riders (several of whom are fellow Citizens of Planet Ultra). It also has a dozen, colorful oral-history-type interviews with aging cycling celebrities like Gary Fisher, John Howard, spinning founder Johnny G, Specialized founder Mike Sinyard, famed coach Eddie B, mountain bike legend Ned Overend and many others who talk about their lives and how they manage to stay fit past 50.  Bottom line: The authors, Roy M. Wallack and Bill Katovsky, being endurance cyclists themselves who have done famed ultra rides like Paris-Brest-Paris and the TransAlp Challenge, have managed to pack tons of tons of relevant information into a very fun-to-read fun package.
